Jo Becerra has worked as a genetic counselor since 2009 in both a clinical and laboratory setting. In her career, she has guided thousands of patients through the complicated world of genetics to help them make informed decisions about their own healthcare. As a lab GC, she has ensured thousand more receive appropriate, quality and cost-effective genetic testing. She is also the creator of Elsie, which helps GCs obtain and maintain state licensure in the US.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and her master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from Cal State University, Northridge (CSUN). She loves exploring all things science with her husband, two children and fun-loving pup.
